"Perhaps it is our imperfections that make us so perfect for one another!" - from Emma-"I am going to take a heroine whom no one but myself will much like." -Jane Austen before writing this novel-This is probably the most difficult and extraordinary novel by Jane Austen which is much longer than her other novels. Just like in her other novels, Jane Austen explores both the difficulties and concerns of genteel women living in Georgian-Regency England. A witty language, along with enormous irony and humor serves this piece of delight perfectly on the plate. The dominant theme in this novel is marriage, and all of the major activities of the novel revolve around marriage and matchmaking.Emma, the protagonist, is described in the very beginning to us as a "handsome, clever, and rich" woman. Throughout the text we realize that she is also rather spoiled, self-satisfied and headstrong. Emma is such an intelligent woman; however, we cannot help seeing her doing very simple mistakes and being blind to dangers of bringing trouble in people's lives.
